It seems every new site to keep in touch with people is becoming more and more invasive. Myspace was okay; then it became all about facebook. Thank goodness for privacy options. Facebook can be a way to keep in touch with old friends or just chat with friends whenever. However some people stalk friends (extra creepy at times).
Twitter now though is all I hear about on shows like ET (Entertainment Tonight) and Access Hollywood. They are all a buzz about celebrities "twittering".
It's basically a way to let the world know what you are doing. The intro to the site describes it as "Send status notices through your cell phone, instant messanger, or via the Web, and notify friends and followers of the little things you're up to during the day."
I personally find that a little to stalker accessible to check up on you throughout the day. I think facebook is enough to statisfy me.
What does anyone else think about the new flash of "twitterers"?

I can totally understand celebrities like movie stars or famous authors using twitter. It's a way for them to keep their fans updated on some of their upcoming events or their day to day lives. Since their lives aren't exactly as private as the common person's, it kind of makes sense. But I agree - I wouldn't want to be that "stalker" accessible.
ReplyDeleteew twitter... I personally don't like it and I think it's super creepy. I don't care where you are every second of every day. Plus people have twitter send updates to their cell phone and it's just super annoying. I don't plan on twittering any time soon.
ReplyDeleteI haven't yet been sucked into twittering but, as someone who is teaching and thinking about the New Media a lot lately, I think it is inevitable that I'll start twittering on of these days. All my journalist and freelance writer pals are doing it.
ReplyDeleteI've never used Twitter. Up until just recently I just started using my cell phone to check my facebook and update my status. It's really convenient, like I don't text enough.
ReplyDeleteAre you saying that you don't like Twitter? Or are you a user?
